Mad Cow Disease
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) is other term for the more widely known as Mad Cow disease. It is a fatal cattle disease that is neurodegenerative in nature, a slow degeneration of the brain especially the central nervous system of the cow, eventually causing it to behave strangely until it dies. Some believe that BSE infection is caused by feeding cattle with scrapie-infected products. Scrapie is a fatal disease, which affects both sheep and goat; this disease also attacks the central nervous system. A similar disease, which affects humans which shows the same symptoms and known to be in existence, is the new variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD). VCJD is a variant from the classic rare brain disorder that affects elderly people called Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). It is believed that the humans that were infected with vCJD were able to intake beef from BSE infected cows.

This site for me ranks three in my list of websites for Mad Cow disease because of the weight of the information it has to offer. In this site, the article about Mad Cow disease is divided cleverly into 8 sections. There is the introduction that cleverly states what needs to be said to capture the attention of the reader. Then in the following sections the basic what-and-how questions are answered, which I believe are very important if we are to answer most of the basic questions of a reader. A section right after is dedicated to explaining the details of the cause of the disease.
